Manager Employee Relations

Being a first point of Contact for employees, this position participates in executing structure employee relations strategy, initiatives and programs that create a high performance culture and an engaged workforce. Developing and implementing best practices in the area of employee relations management will also be paramount important task under the scope of intervention while ensuring a healthy long lasting relationship is maintained with all stakeholders in the organisation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Build up and maintain a sound relationship with staff by providing guidance and support to Line Management and Staff on employee relations issues in order to promote employee engagement across the bank while communicating policies and procedures consistently.
  • Periodically review, develop and maintain policies, procedures, in conjunction with the Line Management in order to foster employee welfare and morale.
  • Managing employee grievances and conduct employee counselling while promoting employee communication and feedback by ways of employee surveys, suggestion schemes and meetings in response to employees queries and concerns regarding HR services and delivery channels.
  • Identify, recommend, and oversee the implementation of appropriate actions to accomplish resolutions of employee concern and monitor overall employee satisfaction.
  • Provide guidance, assistance, to the Line Managers, and the Staff in order to ensure a fair and equitable working culture.
  • Periodically appraise / audit on employee relation issues to identify possible incidents and to make recommendations of appropriate actions to resolve issues.
  • Employee Relations Manager will assess and anticipate HR related needs and communicate such needs proactively with HR leadership.
  • Provides MIS reports to Management with regard to Employee Relation matters using employee data with workforce analysis and getting total employee integration.

The Person:

  • Over 8 years of Executive level experience out of which minimum 3 years' exposure in HR / Relationship Management
  • Should possess a University Degree and / or Associate Member of the Institute of Bankers and / or a Professional Qualification in HR / Psychology
  • An MBA would be an added qualification
  • Strong communication skills both oral and written
  • Self starter with a positive attitude and ability to work under pressure

Knowledge of the following aspects of HR management is required:

  • Workforce planning, employee engagement, talented management, performance management and employee retention
  • Knowledge in employee and labour relation including negotiations and administration of employee communications
  • Knowledge in Human Resources Information Systems
  • Well-developed negotiation skills and a persuasive and convincing nature
  • Ability to manage reticulation of people related projects


Selected candidate will be placed in the appropriate grade and remuneration scale based on the level of knowledge and experience.
