Server / System Administrator

Job Profile:

  • The selected candidate will be responsible for:
  • System Administration on Windows, Linux and Solaris servers
  • Application administration
  • Analysing, consolidating, performance tuning, capacity planning and optimising servers, databases and storages for optimal efficiency and consistency
  • Performing required housekeeping, backups, mirroring, replication and failover of servers and databases to ensure their smooth operations and to maintain high availability thresholds of systems
  • Testing, performing upgrades and applying patches for servers, databases and applications with relevant vendor support
  • Restoring and recovering backups of servers and databases periodically as well as when required
  • Implementing security and audit requirements as per ISO27001 security standards and recommendations when necessary for servers, databases and applications
  • Evaluating and recommending new server, databases and application technologies
  • Establishing the needs of users, monitoring user access and rectifying and solving issues of servers, databases and applications
  • Working closely with IT Teams and communicating regularly with technical, applications and operational staff to ensure integrity and security of servers, databases and applications

Applicant's Profile:

  • Degree in ICT
  • Certification on Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE) in Windows 2012
  • Certification on Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA)
  • Certification on Microsoft SQL Server Administration for SQL Server 2012 is advantageous
  • Oracle Certified Associate is an added advantage
  • Sound knowledge of Server Operating Systems such as Windows, Linux and Solaris and their administration, Sever Hardware and Storage Area Networks (SANs)
  • Application administration and database management technologies
  • Sound communication, interpersonal, strong problem solving and project management skills are vital
  • Sound knowledge on Networking

Experience: Minimum 3 years' experience in Server Administration
