Bank of Ceylon which serves over 12 million customers through its network of over 600 branches covering the entire country wishes to recruit persons with following capabilities and qualification as:

Management Trainee

Eligibility Criteria:

Should be a citizen of Sri Lanka

Academic / Professional Qualifications:

  • A Degree with a minimum 2nd Class (Upper Division) or Grade Point Average (GPA) with a minimum of 3.5 out of a maximum of 4.0 points obtained from a local or foreign University recognised by University Grants Commission of Sri Lanka, in any of the following subjects / disciplines:
    - Economics
    - Statistics / Mathematics / Physical Science
    - Accountancy / Banking / Finance
    - Engineering
    - Commerce / Business Administration (Accounting / Finance)
    - Computer Science / Information Technology
    - Management (Public / Financial / Accountancy / Business)
    - Marketing
    - Human Resources
    - Law
    - Valuation
    - International Business
    - Agriculture

OR

  • A Degree together with Post Graduate qualification at Master's or higher level, obtained from a local or foreign University recognised by the University Grants Commission of Sri Lanka, in any of the above subjects / disciplines

OR

  • An Associate Member of one of the following accounting qualifications together with two (2) year Executive Experience in a recognised institute OR;
  • A degree from local or foreign University recognised by University Grants Commission of Sri Lanka, in any of the above subjects / disciplines, with full qualification (Passed Finalist) of one of the following;
    - The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka (ICASL)
    - The Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA-UK)
    - The Chartered Financial Analyst Programme of the CFA Institute (CFA-USA)
    - The Chartered Institute of Management Accountants of UK (CIMA-UK)
    - The Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICA-EW)

OR

  • An Associate Member of the Institute of Bankers of Sri Lanka (AIB-IBSL) or The Chartered Institute of Bankers - UK (CIB-UK), with a minimum of one year experience in an Executive Level in a Bank or reputed Financial Institution

OR

  • Attorney-at-law with an honours at the Final Examination with a minimum of two years of experience in Executive Level in Banking or reputed financial institution.

Age: Below 30 years, as at the closing date of applications.

Other Attributes:

  • Positive mindset with drive and commitment to achieve organisational objectives
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure
  • Possess leadership qualities
  • Interpersonal skills with ability to work with team
  • Literacy in IT and proficiency in English Language and Sinhala / Tamil Languages

Terms and Conditions:

  • Initial training period will be of 2 years on a training agreement, with a provision to be absorbed into the grade of Executive Officer of the permanent cadre, upon fulfilling the requirements of training contract of the satisfaction of the Bank.
  • A monthly training allowance of Rs.50,000/- will be paid during the training period and an attractive remuneration package inclusive all fringe benefits will be offered, if absorbed into the permanent cadre, on successful completion of the training period.
  • Should be prepared to serve in any part of the country.

Selection Procedure:

Competitive Examination and subsequent interview for shortlisted candidates. Selections will be based on the requirements of the district / province.

Following four papers will be considered at the examination:

  • Paper 1 - Numerical Skills and IQ
  • Paper 2 - General Knowledge and IT
  • Paper 3 - English Language
  • Paper 4 - Verbal Reasoning (Structured and MCQ Questions)
