Cost Accountant

Roles & Responsibilities:

• Planning, studying and collecting data to determine costs of business activities such as equipment, tools, raw material purchases, inventory and labour
• Analysing data collected and recording results
• Finding loops in billing methods and standard packages and developing protocols
• Updating to tariff and controlling the price of services
• Preparation of profit analysis in revenue centres on request
• Provide costing for introduction of new packages and modification of existing packages
• Making estimates of new and proposed services packages
• Analysing changes in package designs, raw materials, service provided to determine effects on cost
• Recording cost information for use controlling expenditures
• Analysing audits of costs and preparing reports
• Providing management with reports specifying and comparing factors affecting prices and profitability of product or services
• Maintaining Cost Accounting Systems
• Assisting in Month end close of the General Ledger
• Conducts physical inventories
• Construct data accumulation systems for a cost accounting system
• Create and review the controls needed for data accumulation and reporting systems

Experience and Qualifications:

• Degree in Accounting, Finance or Commerce
• Completed corporate level of CA or an equivalent in CIMA / ACCA
• Must have a strong Cost systems background and have excellent analytical skills and a sound understanding of accounting principles
• Comfortable working with multiple IT systems
• Excellent Excel skills including pivot tables, graphs and data analysis
• Good report writing abilities
• A good Team Player and ability to work with minimal supervision
