Junior Software Engineer - IT

Job Responsibilities:

  • Develop documentation to identify business and technical requirements and solutions.
  • Produce specifications and determine operational feasibility.
  • Develop well-architected and designed code and ensure it meets the business and technical requirements.
  • Working closely with cross-functional departments to develop and design IT systems.
  • Integrate software components into a fully functional software system.
  • Managing the software development lifecycle.
  • Develop software verification plans and quality assurance procedures.
  • Document and maintain software functionality and deployment.
  • Applying best practices and standard operating procedures.
  • Troubleshoot, debug and upgrade existing systems.
  • Deploy programs and evaluate user feedback.
  • Comply with project plans and industry standards.
  • Live system problem troubleshooting & Support activities.
  • Keep abreast with and adopt new technologies, design methodologies and software development practices.

The Person:

  • Bachelor's degree in Software Engineering/Higher Diploma or equivalent combination of education.
  • 2 to 3 years of software engineering or software development experience.
  • Hands-on programming experience using .NET/C# /Java languages.
  • Experience in DB2/MYSQL/MS SQL Databases will be an added advantage.
  • Ability to work in a AIX/Linux environment will be an added advantage.
  • Solid Knowledge of Object Oriented Analysis and Design. Software Design Patterns and best practices. Creative problem-solving skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience managing the software development lifecycle.
  • The ability to prioritize activities and deliver projects on time and within budget.
  • Extensive knowledge of agile methodologies. Excellent coding skills.
  • Strong team player & Willingness to work long hours when needed.
  • Critical thinker and problem-solving and good time-management skills,
