Assistant Manager - Internal Audit

Job Scope:

Primary Responsibilities:
Responsible for performing, planning and execution of the assigned compliance, financial, and operational and audits and special assignments in accordance with department plans and programmes that are primarily directed to an appraisal of the adequacy, effectiveness and efficiency of all internal systems of control established by Management and/or the Board in order to safeguard the interests of the company and its Shareholders.

Secondary Responsibilities:

  • Perform planning and execution of regulatory, financial, and operational audits and special audits / assignments allocated by the Head of Internal Audit
  • Examine and evaluate the adequacy and effectiveness of information systems and business controls
  • Identify and document business processes and controls in order to evaluate risks and compensating controls
  • Reports audit findings to the Head of Internal Audit and prepares written reports for areas audited, ensuring that they provide an accurate picture of findings
  • Carries out audit work for appraising the implementation of agreed recommended actions by operating management
  • Assists the Head of Internal Audit in reviewing policies, procedures and systems in accordance with specified terms of reference. Assists in carrying out ad-hoc reviews undertaken by the department
  • Reviews the reliability and integrity of financial information and ensuring control over its publication for projecting a sound financial profile
  • Performs prescribed departmental administrative routines, to ensure that proper records are kept of work done in accordance with the internal audit manual or other established standards

Prerequisites:

  • Be a finalist or passed finalist or an Associate Member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka (ACA) or Chartered Certified Accountant of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA)
  • Degree in finance, commerce or business management
  • Minimum 4 years of professional work experience at a big 4 audit firm will be preferred
  • Should have sound knowledge in IFRS, IIA professional practice framework
  • Excellent verbal, written communication and MS Office usage skills
  • Exposure to the insurance industry will be an added advantage
  • Age of all applicants should be below 30 years of age
